Instructions for taking Forensic IT Skills Assessment Tests

Note, when you are a registered user, your skills assessment results are stored as part of your profile. You can include your resume so that potential employers can see both your resume and your skills results. When editing your profile you have the option to be excluded from searches in case you are currently not looking. Your data will never be deleted if your account is logged into at least yearly.

1. Getting Started.

When test launches, enter your email address and then press start. You will receive the test results and your score as an email message.

2. Question Details and Timeclock

After you start the quiz, you will be presented with questions. The questions themselves are not timed, but the entire test is. On each question slide, you can see the time remaining along with the current question number, total number of questions, point value, and difficulty level. See figure below.

True/False (only pick one answer, a.k.a., Correct/Incorrect)
Multiple Choice (single answer, shown with radio buttons)
Multiple Choice (multiple answers, shown with checkboxes and text indicating 'Select All That Apply')
Matching (use mouse to drag and drop the right side answer onto the matching left side)
Sequence/Order (use mouse to drag and drop items in the correct sequence/order)
Fill in the Blank (click on blank and type in the answer)

4. General Question Format

Each question has the general format shown below:

5. Correct Answer

When you press the submit button and get the answer right, a CORRECT dialog box appears. In addition, the question detail bar in orange shows CORRECT and your answer has a flashing green arrow pointing to it.

6. Incorrect Answer

When you press the submit button and get the answer wrong, an INCORRECT dialog box appears. In addition, the question detail bar in orange shows INCORRECT and the correct answer has a flashing green arrow pointing to it.

7. Quiz Results

After completing the assessment, the quiz results are presented to you. Success or Failure is displayed. Remember, the assessments are used to gauge your experience level with the topic. If you are a beginner, you will probably score around 33%. That is right where you should be for a beginner level. When you press Finish, the quiz results, questions and answers will be emailed to you.

8. Email Notification

Check your email and you should see and email with subject "[name of assessment] Quiz Results" from skills_assessments@forensicit.us. The email has the entire quiz, your answers, the correct answers, and the pass/fail results.
